Dhaka: Private television channel Ekushey Television has removed presenter Samriddhi Tabassum from its popular podcast programme Ayna. The channel authorities said the allegations against her were considered serious and that the decision was taken on that basis.

The announcement was made on Monday (20 October) through a post on Ekushey Television’s official Facebook page.

The post stated that presenter Samriddhi Tabassum had been relieved of her duties on the podcast Ayna due to allegations of serious misconduct.

Samriddhi Tabassum first came into the spotlight through a programme on the private satellite television channel Nagorik TV. She later gained popularity by presenting several shows across different media platforms.

The decision by Ekushey Television has sparked significant debate on social media. Some users questioned whether publicly naming a young presenter in this way was appropriate, even if mistakes had been made.

Others expressed support for Samriddhi, suggesting that she may be facing unnecessary controversy.

The channel authorities have not yet released further details, but the incident has already generated considerable discussion within media circles.
